Credits

Built on other people's work.

Gridiron Value builds models. It does not collect the underlying data. Almost everything on this site rests on open-source projects and free public datasets maintained by volunteers, and they deserve the credit and the traffic.

nflverse

Primary source
Play-by-play, rosters, depth charts, participation, contracts

The backbone of everything here. Gridiron Value models are trained and refreshed on nflverse releases — play-by-play going back decades, player directories, weekly rosters, depth chart snapshots, and contract history. Without this project none of the modeling on this site would be possible.

Manual charting data distributed through nflverse

Charting fields that are not available in the standard play-by-play feed. Distributed via nflverse under their agreement with FTN, and credited here at their request.

College production, recruiting, and team data

Every pre-NFL data point behind the rookie models — college box scores, team context, and player histories. CFBD is free, community-funded, and run without a paywall, which is rarer than it should be.

Open sports data tooling

Open-source packages that make multi-sport data ingestion consistent and reproducible.

Access libraries

The R and Python clients used to pull nflverse releases into the modeling pipeline. Maintained by volunteers.

Contract and cap history

Contract terms and cap history used as context for role, runway, and team investment in a player.

Schedules, scoreboards, preseason depth charts

Publicly available scoreboard and depth chart endpoints used for weekly scheduling and preseason role context.

League integration

Their public API powers league import, so you can see your own rosters priced against the models. Gridiron Value never receives a Sleeper password, private message, or payment detail.

Support them, not just us

nflverse and CollegeFootballData are run by volunteers and funded by their communities. If this site is useful to you, they are a better place to send a few dollars than we are.
